Defibrillator comes to Holsworthy Hamlets!

Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council have purchased a Defibrillator which has been placed outside Chilsworthy Village Hall.

The Parish Council, using funds from the Babbington Wind Turbine Fund, has obtained a Defibrillator from the South West Ambulance service.

The Council approached the Village Hall Committee requesting permission to site the machine by the front entrance to the Hall.  Thanks to the Committee approval was given and on Tuesday 25th July the defibrillator was installed by local electrician, Bob Colwill watched over by Jerry Tucker representing the Hall Committee.

The Training was held on the 26th in the Hall and 63 people of all ages attended. The session was run by Justin Sharples of the Ambulance Service, supported by three of our local First Responders.  The training was very 'hands on' with everyone able to ask questions, examine a defibrillator and practice CPR on the manikins.  The most common comment was 'I didn't think it would be such hard work' It is my sincere hope that we never need to use our training or the machine, but if we do, it will mean we are giving someone the best chance of survival. My thanks go to David and Paula West for the publicity art work The Editorial Team of the Parish Newsletter, The Village Hall Committee, Jerry Tucker, Bob Colwill, Justin and the First Responders, Parish Councillors and Parish Clerk

David Campbell, Councillor

A further defibrillator has been purchased and will be installed in the old red telephone box on Staddon Road.  A training session for those interested will be organised shortly.
